Sarah moved to the Parish in 1976 when her parents took over the lease on The Plough Public House in Woodside, and then subsequently moved to The Rising Sun in the village in 1992 when her parents bought it as a Free House and renamed it Minnighan’s, and they were there until her parents retired in 2000. She went to school in Caddington and then Dunstable. Her great-grandmother was the Parish District Nurse and Midwife, Louisa Chadwick. Sarah joined the Parish Council in May 2008, was Vice Chairman from 2016 and promoted to Chairman in February 2023. She is a Trustee of the Slip End Playing Field Management Committee and Treasurer of the Slip End Village Day Assocation committee

I have lived in Woodside since 2012 with my husband, two dogs and a cat. Our children are all grown up and have blessed us with wonderful grandchildren.

I have worked for corporate companies and charities and been involved with many volunteer groups. I currently volunteer for the Luton Hoo Estate in the garden and part of the research team.

I love the sense of community spirit in the parish of Slip End and value the friendships we have made since moving here.

Carol says ‘I lived in Slip End for 27 years before moving to Pepperstock in 2017, I have two married children and four grandchildren. My working life was in retail, I had kitchen shops in Dunstable and Flitwick. Since retirement I have been a member of the Slip End Gardening Club and am now treasurer.

I was on the Steering Committee of the Neighbourhood Plan, I'm actively involved in and Treasurer of the Good Neighbour Scheme, and I’m also a trustee of The Peter Edwards Hall and Slip End Playing Field Management Committee”

Carol has lived in Slip End since 2000. Previously a successful pub landlady, Carol is now a Qualified Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA) currently working in London. Carol is a member of the Aley Green Cemetery committee. Carol Joined the Parish Council in October 2012.

Simon moved to Pepperstock in 1996, when he was recruited as company accountant for a local business. Since then he has moved with his wife Carol, to The Grove Park home site in Woodside. He currently works as a Consultant for Bedfordshire Rural Communities Charity, specialising in Community Buildings advice and developing the Good Neighbour Scheme network. He says “having decided to make Slip End our long-term home, we wanted to get involved in our community and help protect and develop the already vibrant life of the village”. Simon joined the Parish Council in October 2012. Simon is Chairman of our Good Neighbour Scheme and Secretary of the Village Hall committee.

Paul says ‘I am a retired professor, working most of my life in Africa and the Caribbean, with a stint of twelve years as Head of the Department of Environmental Science at the University of Luton. I have lived in and around Luton for over 30 years, with three children educated in local schools. Since 2009 I have been resident in Pepperstock. Retirement claimed me in 2014. I now do voluntary work for Hertfordshire Health Walks, leading a weekly walk for the Markyate community. I am also a season ticket holder at Luton Town FC’.

Lyn and I have been married for over 50 years, originally from Birmingham and moved to Pepperstock in 2019 to be closer to our children and grandchildren who live in St Albans.

I retired in 2015 having spent over 20 years working in Facilities Management in such diverse industries as Bluewater Shopping Centre to Nuclear Power Stations at Dungeness, Sizewell and Hinckley in a Regional Operations Management role; prior to this I was a Quality Engineer.

I am currently Chairman of the Brickhill and Downlands Residents Association and look forward to being part of the wider Slip End community.

Steve has lived in and around the Luton area for the last 64 years. He moved into Woodside in 1992. Both his children went to Slip End school and were members of the local Cubs and Brownies groups.
Since 2000 he has worked at a local electronics based company.
Over the last 25 years Steve has been involved with several of the various local groups, from being a Track judge for the Athletics club at Stockwood, member for Steering Committee of the Slip End Neighbourhood Plan, and a previous 6 year stint as parish councillor at Slip End where he was one of the Slip End PC representative on the Aley Green Cemetery committee. Currently, other than a Slip End Parish Councillor, he is a PCC member and Church warden at St Andrews church and a Trustee for the CaSE Community Trust.
